Did the wealthy get rich from the poor?
FIRST… IF THE POOR HAVE NO MONEY, WHERE DOES THE WEALTH COME FROM?
It’s been misinterpreted since the first time someone said “The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer.” Either their English was poor or the idea too rich… But one thing for certain, wealthy people earn their money doing business with those willing to pay for offered goods and services. The statement leads one to believe the rich actually robbed the poor to make themselves wealthy. When people engage in capitalism, a sale takes place only when all parties agree; or are we to believe the rich personally robbed each and every poor person accumulating their wealth twenty dollars at a time?
Andrew Jackson the seventh President of the U.S. (1829–1837), in his 1832 bank veto, said that “when the laws undertake… to make the rich richer and the potent more powerful, the humble members of society… have a right to complain of the injustice to their Government.” But lets not misunderstand that quote either. Jackson said when the LAWS UNDERTAKE, not when capitalism undertakes. Until the Affordable Care Act we as citizens weren’t forced to participate in capitalism thereby preventing the undertaking of the poor.
